ESMOD Japon Responsible Fashion
To realize sustainable world through fashion, ESMOD Japon takes sustainble education into our curriculum. Out student deepen the knowledge and understanding of materials, fabric, county of origin, factory and sales at shops to be socially responsible designer and patternmaker.
Remake & Zero Waste
– 1st grade –
Students learn the design approach for Remake and Zero Waste, then present their works at EBISU Culture Festival. Students wear their own works and walk the catwalk. As a member of local citizenship, ESMOD Japon participate EBISU Culture Festival every year.
– 2nd grade –
Project to upcycle fabrics and put the new value. Student launch their own limited brand and be responsible for design, patternmaking, sewing, PR and sales. We upcycled Okayama denim and sold upcycled products at Laforet Harajuku in 2020 who has been supporting us since 2017. To learn about supply chain of fashion industry, Students actually went to see denim dyeing, finishing, sewing factories in Okayama during summer break, then learn about marketing from Laforet as a part of curriculum, and finally launch LA BOUTIQUE ESMOD at Laforet Harajuku in February 2020.
Collaboration with UNIQLO
Synpathaized RE.UNIQLO project, ESMOD Japon and UNIQLO Harajuku started sustainable project since April 2020. Applying old UNIQLO clothes collected at UNIQLO stores, ESMOD students upcycle those and presented at UNIQLO Harajuku store.
Theme of 1st project was about denim and fleece influenced by fashion culture during 1990-2000. Students works with denim and fleece were presented from June to October 2020.
Theme of 2nd project was about dawn. To begin 2nd project, Mr.Saito, director of Merchandising and R&D team gave us UNIQLO sustainable seminar to understand UNIQLO’s sustainability. 9 group 13 people have applied and being selected for 4 group 9 people.
